Sometimes you just have to make the leap…
This was my first read from this author. I am thrilled with it!!
I could see this story play out as if it were a movie.
Phoebe & Ella inherit a pub in Ireland from their Great Aunt Breda. Brought up by ever traveling hippies, Phoebe is the responsible, sensible sister while Ella is much like their parents. It’s her encouragement that gets Phoebe to embrace the thought of heading to Ireland and their windfall.
Some windfall. They arrive to discover a ramshackle, abandoned pub that is going to take more than a simple cleaning to sell.
So, armed with Phoebe’s small savings, determination, and some optimism, they tackle the challenge. Oh, and discover they also inherited a skunk named Suki.
They are definitely out of their depth and comfort zone.
They luck into some assistance in the form of the charming, if somewhat annoying at times, and HOT Clooney. A town favorite with many, comes with his own groupies, and the son of their primary competitor. He and Phoebe start off antagonists, but she finds herself grudgingly drawn to him.
Phoebe also discovers she has inherited more than the pub. She also has inherited a family trait that gets her into a few pickles.
Phoebe manages to alienate quite a few. Not always through any fault of her own. Her intentions are good. She also tries to give people the benefit of the doubt. There are quite a few incidents that will have you laughing.
Lots of heart, humor, a dash of drama, and some steam, you’ll finish with a smile.
I received a review copy. I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
